Kalari is an unique system of healing combining herbal oil massages with application of pressure on specific nerve points. This knowledge of the vital points is also crucial to Kalaripayattu, the famous martial art form. At the physical level, Kalari massage rejuvenates the sense and vital organs, improves blood circulation, increases muscular flexibility, enhances vitality, tones up and heals every aspect of the body. On the mental plane Kalari treatment instills new energy, increases awareness, releases emotional stress and provides total relaxation.

PRIME AND BODY CARE TREATMENT

Pizhichil: Treatment for spondilosis, arthritis, hemiplegia, nervous weakness, nervous disorders, paralysis-agitanus, sexual weakness etc. In this treatment, lukewarm herbal oil is applied all over the body by two to four trained therapists in a special rhythmic way continuously for about 60 to 90 minutes per day for a period of 7 to 21 days, depending upon the health condition of the patient. Pizhichil is also good for the healthy persons as a rejuvenative and preventing process.The medicated oil and the duration will be decided by the doctors.Duration : 1 hrs.

Nasyam: Herbal juices, medicated oils etc. are applied through nose for 7 to 14 days.This treatment is highly effective for certain kinds of headaches, paralysis, mental disorders, some types of skin disease etc.Duration : 30 mts.

Vasthi: Certain Herbal oils, herbal extracts etc. are applied through the rectum.This treatment is for arthiritis, paralysis, hemiplegia, numbness, gastric complaints associated with rheumatism and constant constipation.

Sirovasthi: Certain lukewarm herbal oils are poured into a cap fitted on the head for 15 to 60 minutes per day according to the patient's condition for a period of 7 days. This treatment is highly effective for facial paralysis, dryness of nostrils, mouth and throat, severe headaches, burning sensation of the head and other vatha originated diseases.

Kativasthi: In this process specially prepared warm medicated oil is kept over the lower back with herbal paste boundary. This treatment lasts for 45 minutes to one hour. It is recommended for any type of back pain and spinal disorders.

Urovasthi: Like kativasthi, warm medicated oil is kept over the chest for 45 minutes. This is an effective treatment for asthma, other respiratory problems, heart diseases and muscular chest pain.

Njavarakizhi: It is a process by which the whole body or any specific part thereof is made to perspire by the application of certain medical puddings externally in the form of boluses, tied up in a muslin bag.This is applied by two to four masseurs for about 60 to 90 minutes per day for a period of 14 days.This treatment is for all types rheumatism, joint pain, emaciation of limbs, blood pressure, cholesterol and certain kinds of skin diseases.

Udvarthanam: This is a typical massage with herbal powders for about 30 to 45 minutes daily for a period of 14 days to 28 days.This treatment is for the diseases like hemiplegia, paralysis, obesity (excess fat) and certain rheumatic ailments.

Snehapanam: Medicated ghee is given internally in a proportionally increased quantity for a period of 8 to 12 days.This treatment is for osteoarthritis, psoriasis, leukaemia etc.

Sandhi Vatha Chikilsa: (Treatment for Arthritis) This treatment programme is helpful for any arthritis conditions.It includes massages, lepanam, oil application on the affected parts, kizhi, steam bath, snehavasthi, kashayavasthi, pizhichil, njavarakizhi, snehapanam and internal medicines.

Swasa Kasa Chikilsa: (Treatment for the Respiratory System) Respiratory diseases like bronchial asthma, portaged cough, allergic rhinitis and sinusitis can be effectively treated with this programme.This programme includes body massage, urovasthi, pizhichil, podikizhi, snehavasthi, kashayavasthi, nasyam and internal ayurvedic medicines.

Yoni Prakshalanam: Herbal oils and decotions are applied through the vaginal route. This treatment is recommended for gynaecological disorders. It is also a purification process for genital organs.

Kizhi: Herbal leaves and herbs or herbal powders are applied to the whole body or affected parts in boluses with hot medicated oils for 45 to 60 minutes per day for a period of 7 to 14 days.This treatment is for osteoarthritis, arthritis with swelling, spondilosis, sports injuries etc.

Rasayana Chikilsa: ( Rejuvenation Therapy ) This treatment includes body massage with hand and foot by one or two masseurs with medicated oil and cream, internal rejuvenative medicines and medicated steam bath. This therapy is for 90 minutes to 2 hours per day for 7 to 14 days.

Shodhan Chikilsa: ( Body Purification Therapy ) It is a process of purifying the whole body to attain proper balance of vata, pitta and kapha, based on the panchakarma and swedakarma treatment. The 15 day package process includes body massage, snehapanam, nasyam, virechanam (medicated purgation), snehavasthi, dhara, pizhichil, njavarakizhi, karnapooranam, tharpanam, sirovasthi, steam bath and internal medicines.

Kayakalpa Chikilsa: ( Body Immunization Therapy / Longevity Treatment ) This is one of the prime treatments in Ayurveda for reducing ageing process, arresting the degeneration of the body cells and immunization of the system.Giving RASAYANA (very special ayurvedic medicine) internally is the main part of this programme, based on the panchakarma and swedakarma treatment.The 28-day package includes body massage, snehapanam, virechanam, nasyam, snehavasthi, dhara, pizhichil, navarakizhi, tharpanam, sirovasthi, karnapooranam and medicated steam bath.This treatment is best effective if taken before the age of 60.

Sidhama Chikilsa: ( Psorasis Treatement Programme ) This is an effective treatment for all types of psoriasis.This special ayurvedic treatment programme lasts for 21 to 28 days. It includes special lepanam, abhyangam, snehapanam, pizhichil, medicated steam bath and sirovasthi along with exclusively prepared internal herbal medicines.

Slimming Programme: This includes two types of massages - Medicated herbal powder massage and Medicated herbal oil massage. These two massages will be given for 28 days. This programme also includes medicated steam bath, intake of herbal juices and herbal tea. Additionally a very special ayurvedic diet is advised during the treatment period.

Sirodhara: In this process, some herbal oils, medicated milk, medicated butter milk, etc. are poured on the forehead in a special rhythm for about 45 minutes a day for a period of 7 to 21 days.This treatment is mainly for insomnia, vata predominated diseases, mental tension, mental stress and certain skin diseases.

Sukhanidra: ( Treatment for Insomnia ) Ayurveda, the knowledge of life, is related not only with the body, but also with the mind and soul. This particular treatment programme is very much helpful for conditions like insomnia (lack of sleep) and anxiety. It strengthens the self healing mechanism of the body and increases the immunity against environmental changes. Body massages, sirovasthi, ksheeradhara, thailadhara, thalam, thalapothichil and internal ayurvedic medicines are included in this treatment programme.

Rejuvenation Massage: This massage includes body massage with herbal oil or herbal powder by hand and foot, head massage and face massage for 1 to 1½ hours.This is good for rejuvenating the body, to reduce mental tension, sexual weakness, to improve vitality etc.

Marma Massage: This is a special massage stimulating all vital points called "Marmas" of the body and helping you to attain the equilibrium of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. This massage is helpful for those involved in sports, dance, martial arts, etc. It also strengthens your deep muscles and ligaments.

General Massage: Body massage with herbal oil or herbal powder by hand. Its aim is to tone up the body, to improve the blood circulation and to reduce obesity.

Medicated Steam Bath: Certain precious herbal leaves and herbs are boiled and the steam is passed to the whole body for 10 to 30 minutes.This is good for certain skin diseases, to eliminate impurities from the body, to improve the tone of the body, to reduce fat etc.

Backwaters Cruise In the backwaters: A favourite with the guests - the cruise takes you through backwaters and paddy fields to R-block, a 3000 acres Island in the Vembanad lake which is lower than the sea. On your way back see Pathiramanal Island. Legends say that this Island emerged from the lake . The whole trip takes 5 hours and is highly recommended.
