The life style of the locals does not change here. They generally live off the river and the paddy fields and coconut plantations. Small country boats made of wooden plants stitched together using coir and treated with fish oil are still a common mode of conveyance.
The Riverine Backwater Resort is set in picturesque surroundings on the banks of Pukaitha River, a tributary of river Pamba, on the Cochin-Kollam national waterway.
