Testimonials
" We have been here just two nights- really not long enough. This has been a wonderful tranquil place to stay. The house is so beautifully made and Colonel Jose and Annamma have been lively welcoming hosts. The food cooked by that great cook has been fantastic. We have really been looked after and the tours have been so enjoyable. We had a great across country with Colonel Jose who is as fit as a mountain goat! The natural swimming pool at the end was a very welcome reward. We are just sad we have to go on new to somewhere else as there is lot more to do here."

"Arriving at Colonel's Retreat- for us it was like coming home to Grandmother and grandfather. You were not only waiting in front of the house, you always cared for us - especially for our 3 children. We enjoyed the time in the ' best homestay of the world' with you very much. Thank you for your delicious meals and for explaining about the spices."

" Staying here in this exquisitely designed home has been a great pleasure. Getting to know the Colonel and his wife and experiencing their wonderful hospitality has been a privilege and a very memorable highlight of our trip to Kerala. The Colonel is extremely knowledgeable and witty - a consummate host. Anna, his wife is a lovely gentle character with a real senses of humour - especially where the Colonel is concerned.
We have been given every conceivable home-comfort including wonderful meals and sublimely comfortable beds. We have been introduced and escorted to all the local sights of this area and spent the remaining time on the veranda taking on the glorious scenery and reading. This is the perfect spot not only for great conversation but for dreaming and contemplation.
With warm regards to Jose and Annamma from this very satisfied and grateful guests. "

"At last, somewhere to relax and unwind after 10 days of cycling in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Ann and I thoroughly enjoyed the setting, the closeness to nature, being woken up by birdsong in the morning- good for the soul after the hustle and bustle of Madurai. The place needs a higher profile with Kalypso adventures - something we can stress in our feedback at the end of the trip. The food is typically Keralean - and delicious. I definitely recommend this to our friends back home.
Thank you Jose and Ann for being the perfect host and hostess."

" From bubbling brook to rubber tree plantation , a house and ground that would befit the front cover of any ' Ideal Home' magazine. The colonel's residence can only be described as a gem set in the beautiful green paradise of Kerala. Such charming hosts the Colonel and his wife, doing so much to make our stay here a memorable experience. I wish we could have stayed here more than just one night."

" It has been a two of the most magical days of my life....and that isn't an exaggeration from a would -be-writer. You have created a place of such beauty and wonder- Colonel's Retreat breathes spiritual, creative, inspiring energy. Everywhere I look I see something truly beautiful , the stream, the trees, the butterflies, the sound of the birds and crickets at night. It is a piece of paradise here.
You are such a wonderful, warm, fascinating and loving hosts. You have made me feel pampered and special. I have loved hearing your stories - our conversations have been of total pleasure. I feel very honoured to have met you both and I look forward to the next time I come here... which will be as soon as possible...and definitely during the Monsoon!!
Annamma, you created such a beautiful, comfortable, stylish home -it is a total luxury! And the food was exquisite.
As I said earlier, I really feel like I am in India now - thank you, thank you, thank you. And finally Jose, thank you for a truly mystical walk to church this morning and for sharing such a special service with me. I will never forget it and I look forward to the next early morning rise! Thank you both for giving me such a relaxed, inspiring time. It has been nothing but joy and thank you too for providing so carefully rich a great schedule - I saw so many beautiful places. I will never forget my time here...the first of many! "
